The Crowne Plaza in Soaltee, Kathmandu is a green and peaceful Oasis in the middle of the craziness that is Kathmandu. Of course, coming from India its not such a big change but if you are arriving in Kathmandu from other parts of the world. Be prepared!
This being said, we loved our stay in Nepal – the people are amazing and friendly. It was a fun short vacation. Also one thing that made this stay even more pleasurable is the Crowne Plaza. It is a wonderful hotel, with nice green lawns and sprawling swimming pool/spa facilities. The personnel are top notch and will go out of the way to help you.
The taxi from the airport to the hotel costs around 800-1000 NPR, which is half of the cost of the taxi if arranged from the hotel itself. We just came out of the airport and hailed a taxi that brought us here. Below, see some photos of the entrance.
The hotel has nice lawns that complement its old grandeur. There is 1 large swimming pool and a small one adjacent to it to splash around. We used the pool a few times while we there and it was never too crowded. Next to the swimming pool there is the gym and spa facilities. The gym is very well equipped and I found out that many people from Kathmandu have membership to use the gym and spa facilities. At the spa you can get a massage or any treatments, which cost extra or you can use sauna, steam and jacuzzi that is free. Male and females have different facilities.
The lobby is quite huge – both indoor and outdoor. Nice place to grab a drink and relax. The photo on the right shows the view from our room.
For a crowded city like Kathmandu, Crowne Plaza does offer large rooms. We had 2 separate beds, table, chairs and still had a lot of room to move around. There is an ironing board as well as bathrobe for usage. The bathroom is large and well equipped.
We loved our stay at the Crowne Plaza, and if we ever return to Kathmandu will definitely stay here.
