This Air India Maharaja lounge is in the International part of the terminal 3 of the Delhi Airport. We were flying Air India from Delhi to Kathmandu in economy class, and being a Star Gold (*G) we could easily access this lounge.
We arrived from Mumbai, and after a quick stop at the immigration we entered the main mezzanine area of the international departures. Once here, the lounges are signposted. The Air India is part of the lounges A. You take an escalator to go 1 floor up and a big Maharaja will welcome you to the lounge.
It was nice to see the Maharaja welcome us to the lounge!
The lounge has quite a decent food buffet, the quality and taste are ok – nothing special. We tried the vada/sambhar but taste wise it was quite plain. Perhaps we made a mistake of ordering south indian food in north india, we should have stuck to chole and parathas (which were also on offer). Perhaps next time.
The lounge agent gave us wifi codes, which were easy to use and the speed quite good. There are also a few places with computer terminals to be used by customers. I like the lounge seating – it is quite varies, from tables/chairs to long and comfortable couches. The lounge in itself is quite huge and although there were plenty of people we never felt crowded.
The lounge has open seating in the middle, but at the corners you will see 1 or 2 seats with partitions around them to give you a bit more privacy. I liked the way this lounge was set-up. We had a small snack a nice cold beer and could really relax before our flight to Kathmandu.
Air India does a decent job with this lounge – its not too fancy like the GVK lounge at Mumbai Airport, but it offers all the basics to make your stay pleasant.
