Turkish airlines ran a promotion from 8th March 2017 to 15th June 2017. I was one of the lucky ones who was targeted for the promotion. It was too good to be true.
The promotion said – 2 times status miles will be accrued on economy flights, 4 times status miles will be accrued on business flights.
This is an amazing deal. 4 times the miles for a business class flight will make a person Turkish Elite plus in 1 return flight. Amazing value for money – as you will have Star Gold for the next 4 years as well you will get 2 TK upgrades for 2 years. That in itself is amazing. On top of that the status miles are also redeemable by Turkish. I just could not believe that TK will honor such promotion.

Anyways, I decided to take a chance and book a ticket to the USA in business class. I found the cheapest way was to fly from ARN to ORD on the days I wanted. I booked a flight with KLM to ARN and was all set to be Star gold for 4 years. A bit criss-cross around the world. Hey, but who is complaining, in the end it is all for a good cause.
After my trip, I quickly received the actual miles I was entitled too, without the bonus. Again there were a lot of speculations and checking TK account every few minutes. Many flyertalkers emailed TK and received a standard response that they were not eligible… bla bla. I was getting a bit impatient and few up of this. But I thought of waiting it out until the month end, which was in a few weeks. I am glad I did. TK did come through and credited 4 times the miles. It was amazing. I overnight became Elite and then Elite plus. I would say this was one of the most rewarding promotion I have ever been part off over the last 15 years.
Just glad that I was targeted and finally also relieved that TK came through their end of the bargain! Kudos to them…
